Column: From Shanghai with Love

3. Yuyo columnIn the last 3 months I have been living here in Shanghai and until today I still love observing people, especially in the metro. Watching them think, walk and wear. But what I’ve noticed, is that the local people themselves don’t do this observing as much as I do. Once they get in the metro (and they are fast, trust me) they start closing their eyes, almost all of them!

Well, this could be because we live in such a big city, it is in the top 4 of the world. And every half a year the city looks different. It changes fast and a lot of things are happening at the same time. It is like the Chinese are multitasking 24/7 and still manage to have a structured flow in this, which I find amazing.

Then it almost sounds logical that the Chinese are finding a moment for themselves while traveling, by closing their eyes for couple of minutes.

This is one of the reasons why I never mind missing my bus or metro. Because then I have just won a little bit more time for myself.

2014, the year of the horse, the year of change and success. Let’s work hard, but relax harder!

What makes us different, makes us the same.

From Shanghai with love,
Yuyo Tsen
