Christmas Charity Event 2013 – Generosity hand in hand with networking

Christmas Event in De Nieuwe Kerk 2013_509

Dragons Businessclub’s Christmas Charity Event held on December 13 in De Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam activated more than 170 warm hearted members, sponsors, speakers, co-organisers and volunteers for the yearly returning fundraising activity. This year’s charity is the Morning Tears alliance. Its aim is to improve  young children’s lives in China, whose parents are executed or imprisoned. These children are a forgotten group and therefore a worthwhile and meaningful charity. See the pictures

De Nieuwe Kerk and its Ming exhibition created a unique Dutch-Sino scene for both the charity event and the official switch of Dragons Businessclubs’ chairmanship from Mr. Chang Wong to Mr. Atom Zhou. Sincere gratitude goes to the sponsors, who selflessly provided exclusive goods and services for the enjoyable auction and lottery.

Interesting speakers provided valuable insights. Ms. Cathelijne Broers, managing director of De Nieuwe Kerk, is proud to display the Ming exhibition to the world to see at De Nieuwe Kerk. She believes that innovative China will significantly mark the 21st century. Next, Mr. Marcel Plazier from The Mooncake Foundation reflected on the satisfying results of last year’s Christmas Charity, in which the foundation helped disabled orphans in China in 2012. Short after, Ms. Wilma Huijskes, board member of the international Morning Tears alliance, presented Morning Tears’ activities to help children in China with parents who received the severest punishment. Furthermore, Ms. Lulu Wang, Chinese Dutch writer, presented many interesting layers for cultural understanding between China and The Netherlands. Finally, Ms. Laying Wang, understudy singer of the musical ´Miss Saigon´, made this event complete with several beautiful Chinese and English songs.

This year´s Charity event established a new record of Eur. 8,305 (last year Eur. 7,135). The Dragons team is very grateful for the contribution by all attendees and sponsors.

Special thanks go to the main sponsors: Cathay Pacific Airways, Chinese restaurant Oriental City and Cathay Travel Service. Also special thanks go to Incentive Europe, Rabobank Amsterdam, Marco Polo translations services China Times and all other sponsors!
